POST OFFICE. REGISTERED MAIL - It is now no longer possible to send a "registered" letter or parcel to the United Kingdom from the Jávea post office. The previous system was by using a "certified slip" together with an "orange coloured registration card" (for countries outside Spain) which needed completion so that on arrival at the destination, the recipient would "sign the receipt" of the letter or parcel by completing the coloured slip, which would then be returned by the UK post office back to the sender. This system is no longer possible for mail going to the United Kingdom. The system continues to be possible in Spain, by using the bright pink coloured registration card together with a certified slip. Please consult the post office should you wish to send registered mail to other countries, as I am told that there are still countries which accept this system of postage to control the sending back of the slip to the sender. It is possible to send just a "certified" letter or parcel. Now, if the document or item to be sent is important, the only alternative via the post office, is to send the letter "Asegurada" meaning "insured". The cost will depend on the amount of insurance stated. For 50 euros worth of insurance, the cost of the post office stamp-fees, would be approx. 5,60 euros" An alternative method for important mail or parcels is to use a courier." |

Jávea Town Hall are requesting everyone registered on the "Padron de Habitantes", including persons from EU countries to ensure their details are correctly recorded. There is a new Law out in Spain, and I was told by the lady in the office of "el Padrón" that the rules apply to all countries within Europe. This means that ALL foreign residents, including Europeans, who live and have their permanent home here in Jávea, should go to the Town Hall "Padron" Office……….. |
