Where is the Police Documentation Office in Denia?

Do I need Residence Card or a Registry Certificate ?

Citizens from OUTSIDE the EUROPEAN UNION still require a “Residence Card” to reside in Spain.

There is no longer a ‘Residence Card’ for EUROPEAN UNION Citizens.

EU Residents coming to live in Spain need a Registry Certificate.

The "Certificado de Registro" (Certificate of Registry … of the European Union) replaces the "Tarjeta de Residencia" (Residence Card) for all European Citizens who reside in Spain …..for all ages whether working or not working, and also if you are retired.
It is obligatory to obtain this new Certificate if you reside in Spain.
On the expiry of an existing "Tarjeta de Residencia" (Residence Card) this Registry Certificate should now be obtained.

A Registry Certificate is normally issued by your local Police Station, however if your local Police Station is in Denia then you need to apply at the new Police Documentation Office.

What do I have to do to get a Registry Certificate ?

Instructions re procedure at the Police Documentation Office in Denia

To obtain the Certificate, the Applicant must go in person himself/herself.

First…… As from November 1st 2008, appointments are being given out on a FRIDAY for THE FOLLOWING WEEK ONLY.

If you live in the area covered by Denia, you have to go to the Police Documentation Office and QUEUE to get your appointment.

Second…..  the Applicant needs to go at the given time on the given date, taking with him the following:

(1) original passport
(2) EX 16 Form (as per link below) duly completed
(3) (if applicable) the previous "expired" Residence Card (in the case where the applicant already holds a residence card).

In the case of a brand new application, or if the residence card is expiring AND the home ADDRESS has changed, then it is obligatory for the Applicant to take (1) and (2) above and also a Certificate from the Town Hall where he/she is now living, to prove the actual address ("Certificado de Empadronamiento").

In the Document Office the Applicant will be attended to by a Police Clerk. The paperwork is checked, and you will be given an official form for payment at the bank. The Applicant then goes to the Bank, pays the amount due and obtains a receipt. The applicant then returns to the Document Office and the new "Certificado de Registro" will be issued there and then.
